Part 1: Observational Audit's
The facts
Observational audits are a CQC Care Standards Assessment that objectively evaluate the lived experience.
Observational audits aim to ensure that your organisation:
- Values people
- Treats them as individuals
- Listens to their voice
- Treats them as individuals
Part 2: Spotting areas for Improvement
The areas for improvement within any given care scenario are practically endless. In fact, it's very unlikely you’ll spot them all.
What you need to do is define very clearly beforehand, what you are looking for, and how this criteria might be evident within the situation you are observing. As a starting point, when carrying out an observation, make sure you focus on:
- Cleanliness
- Infection control
- Dignity
- Respect
